Care of Wedding Clothes

Wedding garments, more often than not, need extra care. This is because they are usually made of delicate materials such as silk, rayon, satin, tulle, chiffon. Plus, wedding clothes are often adorned with beads, crystals, and sequins making them especially very sensitive to be thrown into the washing machine or gone over a clothes iron. Despite their sensitivity, wedding clothes like bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses are expected to be always looking beautiful and perfect.

When ironing a wedding garment, set your iron on the type of fabric. Gently place the garment on the iron board. Always start at the top, along the neckline. Do not apply much pressure, instead, go about ironing using a slow moving, circular motion. If the garment has sleeves, lay them onto the iron board and start at the shoulder down using the same motion. Make sure that the garment is laid flat on the board to prevent the iron from forming creases and lines. When ironing the skirt, pull and straighten it out onto the board first. Start at the waist line, make a slow, circular motion down to the seams.

If you have a dry iron with a steam option, use that. It is all the better for you if you have a steam iron that generates vertical steam because you can iron out wrinkles without having to lay the dress on the board nor applying pressure as you would with a dry iron.
